One Million Cups
—When: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 24 and Jan. 31.
—Where: Union Station Deli, 705 S. Illinois Ave., Joplin.
—Details: A weekly community event that brings together entrepreneurs and the Joplin community to connect over coffee and conversation.
'Building a Business Plan'
—When: 10-11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23.
—Where: Virtual training via Zoom.
—Details: This workshop will introduce participants to the importance of writing a business plan. The various components of a business plan will be reviewed, as well as how to use the plan to attract funding and as a business management tool. Registration deadline is Jan. 23. Registered attendees will be sent a Zoom link to participate virtually. There is no cost.
Business Expo
—When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24.
—Where: Downstream Casino Resort.
—Details: Unlike previous years, when the event ran over two days, this will be one-day event. More than 110 exhibitors are set to attend in January. Business-to-business hours for the Expo are from 9 a.m. to noon. Admission is free with a business card. The business-to-consumer hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Admission for that is $5, but children age 5 and under get in free.
'New Year, New Market: Online to Overseas, Part 1'
—When: 2-3:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25.
—Where: Virtual training via Zoom.
—Details: This is a two-part program led by Leslie Fischer, field specialist in international trade from the Missouri Small Business Development Center. During this training, participants will navigate through a diverse array of e-commerce systems, pinpointing the one that aligns with their business goals. They will enhance their online presence without the need to start from scratch and craft an international e-commerce strategy, learning how to tap into global markets. They also will identify common pitfalls, receive practical suggestions for optimization, and explore additional export support services provided by the SBDC. Registration required by Jan. 25. Registered attendees will be sent a Zoom link to participate virtually. There is no cost.
