A new sandwich restaurant will celebrate its new Lubbock location with a fundraiser that could give customers a free sandwich on Wednesday.
Jersey Mike's Subs will open a new location at 11417 Slide Road at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. As part of the grand opening, the location will host a fundraiser through Sunday, Jan. 14, to support AFSP West Texas. The organization "focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide by delivering prevention programs, educating the public, raising funds for suicide research and programs, & reaching out to individuals who have lost someone to suicide," according to the organization's website.

“We are so excited to open our first Jersey Mike’s Subs store in South Lubbock,” said Charles Barkley, franchise owner. “For our grand opening, we are having a five-day fundraiser raising funds for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention of West Texas, which is an excellent organization providing resources and support to our local community. We are eager to have everyone in the community come by and try our delicious subs and support this worthy cause with us!”
Customers who receive a fundraising coupon, which is distributed through a grassroots effort prior to Wednesday, can make a minimum $3 donation to AFSP West Texas in exchange for a regular-size sub. Customers must have the coupon in order to get the sub deal.

People can place orders in-store or for pickup through the website, or through the Jersey Mike's app. Curbside delivery can be done through the app as well, and delivery is available in most areas. The Slide Road location will be open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. daily, and can be reached at 806-589-3822.
