JD Logistics, the logistics division of China’s retailer JD.com, has launched operations in South Korea with two new self-operated logistics centres in Icheon and Incheon. The centres will provide third-party logistics services and comprehensive supply chain solutions, ensuring delivery times of as little as 12 hours within Seoul and neighbouring areas.
The Incheon facility will provide logistics solutions for South Korean beauty brands as well as a US consumer goods corporation. On the other hand, the Icheon facility will cater to a domestic e-commerce client. It is also equipped with automated packing and sorting systems. The firm's platform has a batch-oriented inventory management system for food items, enabling precise oversight of expiration dates.
A JD Logistics representative said: “Consumers in South Korea expect fast and precise delivery, the flexibility and accuracy of logistics operations have become core differentiators. By combining our automation capabilities with global operations expertise, JD Logistics is well-positioned to support local brands and enhance customer satisfaction.”
Established in 1998, JD.com ranks among the leading three e-commerce platforms in China, alongside AliExpress and Temu. However, it differs from its competitors, which operate as open-market platforms, by purchasing goods directly for sale.
JD Logistics connects Korean products with Chinese consumers via JD.com’s cross-border platform, JD Worldwide. The company operates more than 100 warehouses globally and aims to deliver goods within 2 to 3 days in major international markets and same-day service in certain locations.
