Japan econmin Ishihara: Free trade drives global growth

TOKYO, Jan 24 (Reuters) - Japanese Economy Minister Nobuteru Ishihara said on Tuesday he still believes that free trade is a source of global economic growth, after U.S. President Donald Trump formally withdrew from the Trans Pacific free trade block.

Ishihara, when asked by reporters whether Japan would be open to a bilateral trade agreement with the United States, said that it may still take time to determine whether U.S. officials would start to seek such pacts.
