Insider Buying: Autosports Group Independent Non-Executive Director Bought AU$102k Of Shares

In This Article:

Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the Autosports Group Limited (ASX:ASG) Independent Non-Executive Director, Danny Rezek, recently bought AU$102k worth of stock, for AU$1.70 per share. Nevertheless, it only increased their shareholding by a minuscule percentage, and it wasn't a massive purchase by absolute value, either.

Autosports Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent purchase by Danny Rezek is the biggest insider purchase of Autosports Group shares that we've seen in the last year. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at around the current price of AU$1.84. That means they have been optimistic about the company in the past, though they may have changed their mind. While we always like to see insider buying, it's less meaningful if the purchases were made at much lower prices, as the opportunity they saw may have passed. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider purchases were made at close to current prices.

Insider Ownership Of Autosports Group

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Autosports Group insiders own 37% of the company, worth about AU$137m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Autosports Group Tell Us?

It is good to see recent purchasing. And the longer term insider transactions also give us confidence. When combined with notable insider ownership, these factors suggest Autosports Group insiders are well aligned, and quite possibly think the share price is too low. One for the watchlist, at least! While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision.
