Informational events coming to Lenawee County Farm Bureau

ADRIAN — Two informational events are coming soon to the Lenawee County Farm Bureau.

Both events will be at the farm bureau at 4025 S. Adrian Highway.

The first is Farmers Blend, an informal talk on the second Wednesday each month starting this coming Wednesday, Jan. 12.

“Coffee starts at 8:30 a.m. The program starts at 9 a.m. It’s about an hour or so,” said Keeley Pape, promotion and education chair for the bureau. “It’s very low key and just something for farmers to come to and take in a little information and start getting back into some normalcy of meeting with people again.”

It is a great place to get warm and enjoy the company of colleagues.

“It’s called the ‘Farmers Blend,’ and it’s just something we do every month with exceptions to the busy months for farmers. And we just get a presenter,” Pape said. “This week’s presenter is Laura Campbell and she’s going to be giving a presentation on the Western Lake Erie Basin with a water quality update.

“As recently announced, the Western Lake Erie Basin has just been awarded $25 million dollars and we at the Lenawee County Farm Bureau are excited to hear the plans for spending. The agriculture community in Lenawee County has been hard at work at making adjustments, where possible, to help protect the Western Lake Eire Basin. I am excited to hear what Laura has to say on January 12th.”

There will be a door prize drawing at the end of the meeting.

The second event is the Healthy Balance Sheet and 2022 Cost of Production Workshop by Eric Richer from the Ohio State University Extension office in Wauseon, Ohio. The program runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is followed by lunch.
