Argentum Silver Corp. (CVE:ASL) shareholders might be concerned after seeing the share price drop 15% in the last month. But that doesn't undermine the rather lovely longer-term return, if you measure over the last three years. In fact, the share price is up a full 240% compared to three years ago. To some, the recent share price pullback wouldn't be surprising after such a good run. The fundamental business performance will ultimately dictate whether the top is in, or if this is a stellar buying opportunity.

Argentum Silver didn't have any revenue in the last year, so it's fair to say it doesn't yet have a proven product (or at least not one people are paying for). As a result, we think it's unlikely shareholders are paying much attention to current revenue, but rather speculating on growth in the years to come. For example, investors may be hoping that Argentum Silver finds some valuable resources, before it runs out of money.

We think companies that have neither significant revenues nor profits are pretty high risk. There is usually a significant chance that they will need more money for business development, putting them at the mercy of capital markets. So the share price itself impacts the value of the shares (as it determines the cost of capital). While some such companies do very well over the long term, others become hyped up by promoters before eventually falling back down to earth, and going bankrupt (or being recapitalized). Argentum Silver has already given some investors a taste of the sweet gains that high risk investing can generate, if your timing is right.

Argentum Silver had cash in excess of all liabilities of just CA$18k when it last reported (December 2018). So if it has not already moved to replenish reserves, we think the near-term chances of a capital raising event are pretty high. It's a testament to the popularity of the business plan that the share price gained 50% per year, over 3 years, despite the weak balance sheet.
