The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) is expanding its footprint in Himachal Pradesh, India, with the signing of a new Gateway hotel in McLeodganj.

This brownfield project aims to strengthen IHCL's footprint in key leisure destinations within the state, including Manali, Shimla, Dharamshala, Naldhera, and Sirmaur.

In partnership with Mcleo Times Square, the upcoming Gateway hotel will feature 65 rooms and is situated near the Dalai Lama Temple and the McLeodganj market.

IHCL Real Estate & Development executive vice president Suma Venkatesh said: “This signing is in line with IHCL’s strategy of strengthening its presence in Himachal Pradesh across key leisure destinations like Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Naldhera, and Sirmaur among others.

“McLeodganj with its cultural richness is attracting both domestic and international tourists. We are delighted to partner with Mcleo Times Square for this project.”

The property, perched on a cliff, will offer guests views of the valleys and snow-capped mountains.

It will also feature a range of amenities including an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, meeting rooms, a fitness centre, and a spa.

Mcleo Times Square spokesperson Rahul Pathania said: “We are excited to partner with IHCL to bring the Gateway brand to McLeodganj. This collaboration will offer guests an authentic yet contemporary hospitality experience in this vibrant destination.”

With the inclusion of this hotel, IHCL's portfolio in Himachal Pradesh will grow to 13 hotels, with eight more under development.

IHCL, which encompasses a variety of brands including Taj, Claridges Collection, SeleQtions, Tree of Life, Vivanta, and Gateway, was founded by Jamsetji Tata and opened its first hotel in 1903.

Currently, the company operates a global portfolio of 388 hotels, with 139 under development, across four continents, 14 countries, and more than 150 locations.

Earlier in 2025, IHCL also unveiled the signing of a new Taj resort in Chail, Himachal Pradesh, further expanding its offerings in the state.
