WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Mar 25, 2014) - Last week, industry and government experts from 23 countries gathered to discuss the importance of secure identity in our digital and mobile world and the benefits of biometrics and other identity technologies in providing identity assurance in this new environment. The overwhelming success of the inaugural connect:ID exhibition and conference at the Ronald Reagan Center in Washington, DC exceeded expectations for event hosts International Biometrics & Identification Association and Science Media Partners, who intend to continue connect:ID in March 2015 -- making it the premier annual event for biometrics and identity stakeholders.
"connect:ID is a unique and stimulating annual gathering of market- and thought-leaders in biometric and secure identity technologies, and IBIA was excited to be part of it. The presentations, discussions and exhibits highlighted the very latest in cutting-edge technologies, ingenious new applications and exciting new markets," said Tovah LaDier, IBIA's managing director.
Attendees had the opportunity to hear from subject matter experts and professionals using biometric technology in banking, health care, mobile, border management, law enforcement, and matters of national security. Some of the most advanced biometric technologies -- including voice and facial recognition, iris and fingerprint scanning -- were also displayed at the connect:ID exhibition.
Mark Lockie of SMP was encouraged by the high-level discussions and notes the importance of continuing to discuss the challenges and benefits associated with implementation of biometrics and human identity technologies: "As several speakers pointed out, we have a lot of work still to do in explaining the benefits of these technologies, if we are to win consumers' support for their deployment. And that's where IBIA and SMP have to carry on the work of connect:ID -- to keep explaining and educating."
IBIA plans for connect:ID 2015 to feature experts in industry and government along with the newest and most advanced identity technologies. For more information about IBIA and its ongoing work facilitating the successful application of human identity technologies, please visit www.ibia.org.
