Randy Parker was named CEO of Hyundai and Genesis Motor North America effective Jan. 1, 2025, the automaker announced Tuesday.
Parker succeeds José Muñoz, who will become Hyundai Motor Co.’s president and CEO next month. Muñoz’s promotion is part of the sweeping leadership changes aimed at what the automaker described as “driving success in an uncertain global business environment.”
The company said Parker, who will also remain CEO of Hyundai Motor America, will oversee all Hyundai operations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico and Genesis in the U.S. and Canada. He also will manage Hyundai’s manufacturing facilities in Alabama and Georgia.
The automaker said Parker has been instrumental in leading U.S. sales growth, setting all-time company sales records for three consecutive years. He joined Hyundai in May 2019 as VP of national sales and was promoted to SVP in February 2021 before being named CEO of Hyundai Motor America in August 2022.
Parker has worked in the auto industry for more than three decades. He previously worked as VP of Infiniti North America. He also held leadership roles at General Motors, GM Acceptance Corp., and Nissan.
“Randy Parker is an outstanding leader with a proven track record for driving sales growth and effectively serving our dealer partners, customers, employees and other stakeholders,” Muñoz said in a statement. “As I transition to the role of global president and CEO, I’m confident in the continued momentum of the North American market under Randy’s leadership.”
Parker said he looks forward to building on the company’s recent sales growth.
“North America has become one of the most important markets for Hyundai globally,” Parker said in a statement. “We have a clear vision to deliver outstanding products and elevate the customer experience, while being flexible to changing consumer demands and marketplace dynamics.
