Hyatt Hotels has revealed that Malaika Myers will retire from her role as chief human resources officer at the end of May 2025.
Kristin Oliver will succeed Myers, bringing over 15 years of HR leadership experience from consumer brands to Hyatt's executive team.
Oliver is set to join Hyatt with a diverse background, having held multiple C-suite roles in HR across various companies including HanesBrands, Walgreens, Chico's, and Walmart.
Her appointment as the new chief human resources officer will be effective from 12 May 2025.
Oliver’s role will involve setting and implementing Hyatt's global HR strategy to support the company’s future growth.
She will relocate to Chicago to be based at Hyatt's global headquarters.
Hyatt president and CEO Mark Hoplamazian said: “We are delighted to welcome Kristin to the Hyatt family.
“As Hyatt evolves into a more brand-focused, agile enterprise, Kristin’s extensive experience and purpose-driven approach will guide our focus on the capabilities and talent needed to move our strategy forward.”
Malaika Myers joined Hyatt on 5 September 2017, reporting directly to Hoplamazian.
Under her guidance, Hyatt's RiseHY programme is close to achieving its goal of hiring 10,000 Opportunity Youth.
Hoplamazian said: “Malaika's leadership has been transformative for our organisation.
“Her unwavering commitment to our values, colleague wellbeing and fostering open dialogue around mental health has left an indelible mark on Hyatt's culture. Our global Opportunity Youth programme RiseHY, which Malaika championed, is nearing its ambitious goal of 10,000 hires. We are deeply grateful for her contributions and wish her the very best.”
Hyatt's portfolio currently encompasses over 1,400 hotels and all-inclusive properties across 79 countries on six continents.
Earlier in the year, Hyatt Hotels updated its executive team structure to reflect a shift towards brand-centric operations and increased organisational flexibility.
"Hyatt announces executive leadership transition" was originally created and published by Hotel Management Network, a GlobalData owned brand.
