NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Aug 19, 2014) - New York City's recently opened Hotel 3232, a luxury boutique hotel that caters to the price-conscious sophisticated traveler, is proud to display the art of Chris Georgalas throughout the hotel. Every room features several large-sized quality reproductions of his pieces with originals and high-quality canvas prints available for purchase at the front desk.
Chris Georgalas has been described by the famous CBGB's 313 Gallery as being "influenced by illustration, comic books, graffiti art and pop imagery. Georgalas has to be the next progression of a Duchampian ready-made aesthetic suited and amended for contemporary art." His passionate blend of found objects with vintage prints, tweaked by modern humor, is perfectly suited to the hotel's style -- it's both intelligent, stylish and at the same time comfortable and accessible.
Artist Chris Georgalas commented on the recognition, "The hotel found out about my artwork through their friends who had seen my work displayed in Manhattan. I was immediately drawn to the concept the hotel had first mentioned to me. I feel very fortunate that people enjoy what I create, and even more fortunate that people recommend my work to others." He continued, "It was inspiring to say the least to see how well the hotel atmosphere worked together with the artwork. I am very pleased with how it all came out. The originals might have been small to begin with, but seeing them increased in size was awesome. Hotel 3232 has a unique vision for their space and I am fortunate enough to be part of it."
Hotel 3232 is ideally situated for the Manhattan experience. It sits just 320 yards from the Empire State Building, providing breathtaking views of the icon at night, and is less than a mile from such notable destinations as the Chrysler Building, Penn Station, Grand Central Station, Times Square and the Theater District. Subway stops are on the same block. Consisting of two 17-story towers located on both the north and south sides of 32nd Street, the hotel is just off the corner of Park Avenue, with each room boasting floor-to-ceiling windows. Determined to create a home-like atmosphere, its Studio and Queen rooms offer private balconies and in-room kitchens. One showpiece Deluxe Suite has a private roof deck offering magnificent views of the New York skyline.
Born in Bogota, Colombia, Chris Georgalas was adopted as a baby by an American family and spent his childhood growing up in Minnesota. From an early age, his parents encouraged and fostered his creativity, giving him the tools to experiment with sculpture and painting. He went on to pursue an education in Fine Arts at the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY, including a final term spent honing his craft in Florence, Italy. He currently lives in Jackson Heights, Queens. He described his artwork: "I work with the intricate detail of design mixed with the three-dimensional mass of found materials. The contradiction makes an interesting result. I use the objects as I would with lettering, cropping and composition in Graphic Design. The found materials almost place themselves. In my work, I sample ideas, colors, words and visuals of anything and everything around me. I can relate to the musician who uses turntables to blend or sample words, sounds and noises in the hopes of creating an incredible song. I strive to make that incredible song visual."
