HIVE Deploys NVIDIA GPU Clusters to Expand AI Computing Capabilities

In This Article:

Representing a $30 million investment in high-performance computing and artificial intelligence capabilities, HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd. (HIVE, Financials) has announced the deployment of NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA, Financials) H100 and H200 GPU clusters in Quebec.

Comprising 248 GPUs spread over 32 nodes linked via Infiniband, the H100 cluster is operational and completely configured. In the following quarter, HIVE estimates this cluster to provide a yearly run-rate income of around $15 million. Comprising 508 GPUs spread across 64 nodes, the H200 cluster is projected to arrive in January 2025; client deployment is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025. Projected to provide more than $20 million in yearly run-rate income, this cluster is expected to contribute heavily to annualized run-rate revenue.

Reflecting HIVE's dedication to sustainability, both clusters run totally on renewable energy, hence improving their capacity to satisfy the rising demand for AI-powered solutions. High-margin offerings include cloud computing, real-time analytics, and AI model training are meant to be supported by the infrastructure.

Emphasizing its potential to generate income equivalent to more major Bitcoin mining operations, Frank Holmes, executive chairman of HIVE, characterized the deployment as a strategic expansion into high-performance computing. Holmes pointed out that the investments complement HIVE's long-term plan of diversifying activities in line with its environmental objectives.

President and CEO of HIVE, Aydin Kilic, underlined the company's continuous cooperation with NVIDIA to improve its technical knowledge in GPU management for artificial intelligence uses. Kilic also underlined how scalable HIVE's operations are and how ready it is to include next-generation liquid-cooled data center technology to enable next artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Driven by its expanding HPC services and the conversion of current Bitcoin mining sites into sophisticated data center facilities, HIVE anticipates total yearly revenue to exceed $100 million by 2025.
