ReLeaf Wellness Dispensary, a business that specializes in hemp-based products, is tentatively set to open near the end of the month at 99 Versailles Blvd., in Alexandria's Versailles Shopping Center.
“We’re not actually medical marijuana,” explained Rashad Hamideh, who owns the business with partner Jamie Cadoree. “We will have a lot of the same exact items that are available in the medical marijuana dispensary that you need a prescription for. The only difference is our products are from hemp and so it’s legal for us to sell. You don’t need a prescription.”
Medical marijuana dispensaries sell THC products that are cannabis-derived, so a prescription is required. Hamideh said even though ReLeaf can’t sell everything a medical marijuana dispensary sells, a lot of items that can be found at one can be found at his store with no prescription needed.

Hamideh owns a gas station in Marksville where hemp products are sold, including his own hemp-dervied gummy brand, and said he has gotten a lot of positive feedback.
Hamideh and business partner Jamie Cadoree thought the Versailles location was a good fit for their business since it is in an up-and-coming area of Alexandria.
“It seems like it would be a good fit there,” Hamideh said. “I live in Alexandria as well and I just think it would go well in that area.”
