Health system raises its minimum wage

TRIAD — Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is raising its minimum starting hourly wage by $1, to $18.50 per hour, effective Jan. 12.

The increase recognizes teammates’ contributions to making communities better, while also strengthening the health system’s impact on the local economy, the health system said in a press release.

The increase was touted as part of a $764 million investment — up more than 35% from the prior year — in compensation programs across all of Advocate Health, of which Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is a part.

The health system announced this past January an increase from $16.50 an hour to $17.50.

The health system said the increase reflects an ongoing pledge to create and maintain one of the nation’s top workplaces by supporting the dedicated teammates who deliver compassionate care to patients and communities every day. Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist teammates will now earn at least $11.25 per hour more than the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.
