Head of Russia's Wagner group says still no promised ammunition in sight

May 9 (Reuters) - The head of Russia's mercenary Wagner group said early on Tuesday that his forces had not received the promised ammunition from Moscow yet, hours after he had said that preliminarily they had started receiving it.

"The people who were supposed to fulfil the (shipment) orders have so far, over the past day, not fulfilled them," Yevgeny Prigozhin said in a video post on the Telegram channel of his press service.

Late on Monday, he said that according to preliminary data his troops were beginning to receive the ammunition they needed, but that they had not "seen it in practice". (Reporting by Lidia Kelly in Melbourne; Editing by Himani Sarkar)
