Haydock Finance is reporting a marked rise in asset finance transactions over £500,000, positioning itself as a key player in the structuring and execution of large-ticket funding.
In a press release, the UK-based SME specialist funder said its strong commercial credit appetite, agile underwriting processes and broker-led origination are enabling it to meet demand for “strategic, creative funding” as businesses seek to manage debt, liquidity and capital investment needs.
Head of Specialist Jon Hercman said the current economic climate required funders to offer “more than off-the-shelf finance”, pointing to Haydock’s ability to deliver complex deals “with clarity, speed and collaboration”.
Much of the recent growth in larger transactions has come from refinancing. One recent case involved a regional taxi business seeking to consolidate several high-cost agreements. Operating under a complex structure involving overseas entities, the business required urgent restructuring of its debt. Haydock provided a £1 million Sale & Hire Purchase Back facility over 36 months, enabling the operator to reduce monthly repayments from £90,000 to £33,000.
The deal, which was turned around quickly following asset inspections and interdepartmental coordination, was cited by both broker and customer as evidence of Haydock’s responsive approach.
To support the growth in large deals, Haydock said it has expanded its internal capacity, increasing the maximum deal size eligible for automation and creating a dedicated large-deal team. This team handles transactions end-to-end, particularly those involving multi-asset portfolios or businesses with marginal covenant positions.
Operational and credit teams have been aligned around this strategy, supported by internal training and accreditation programmes focused on sector knowledge and deal complexity.
In April, Haydock hosted two forums bringing together its large-deal specialists and brokers focused on £500k+ transactions. The sessions included case study reviews and process walkthroughs, aimed at deepening broker understanding of how the lender approaches complex commercial cases.
