Halliburton has secured a drilling contract from Petrobras to provide integrated services across various offshore fields in Brazil.
Under the three-year contract, awarded following a competitive bidding process, Halliburton will provide drilling services for the development and exploration wells.
To improve drilling efficiency and accuracy, Halliburton will deploy advanced technologies such as its iCruise intelligent rotary steerable system to optimise well placement accuracy and shorten drilling time.
The iCruise system is known for its fast-drilling capabilities and precise well placement, which are crucial for on-time and on-budget operations.
Additionally, Halliburton will implement the LOGIX automation and remote operations platform to ensure consistent well construction performance.
LOGIX virtual logging enables high-density data transfer in real time, facilitating rapid decision-making processes.
A key technology included in the contract is Halliburton's EarthStar ultra-deep resistivity service, which maps reservoirs and positions production boreholes with detailed insights up to 225ft (68m) from the wellbore.
To overcome the challenges of drilling fluids in offshore environments, Halliburton's BaraLogix real-time service will be utilised.
This service employs advanced hydraulic software, surface measurement automation and predictive analytics to minimise lost time and non-productive time (NPT).
Halliburton will also introduce its Reservoir Xaminer formation testing service, which detects reservoir complexities and aids in informed decision-making for drilling, completion and production.
The Cerebro in-bit sensing technology, another exclusive Halliburton innovation, will be used to measure vibration and rotational speed, thus optimising drilling efficiency.
Halliburton Brazil vice-president Waldomiro Mendes said: "This contract demonstrates Halliburton’s strength in deep and ultra-deep offshore drilling and well construction."
The contract, which is expected to commence this year, marks Halliburton's largest service agreement with Petrobras to date.
Earlier this month, Halliburton Energy Services and Coterra Energy introduced autonomous hydraulic fracturing technology in North America, along with the Octiv Auto Frac service, part of Halliburton’s ZEUS intelligent fracturing platform.
The service automates stage delivery execution at the push of a button.
