KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwired - Aug 26, 2013) - Grantham University, an accredited online university serving working adults around the world, was recently honored by the Missouri Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (MOESGR) for its support of the military both inside and outside of the classroom. Grantham representatives received the award at a dinner held Friday, August 23, at the Crowne Plaza in St. Louis, Mo.

Earlier this year, Grantham University, www.grantham.edu, was named a finalist for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award -- the highest recognition given by the U.S. government to employers for their support of employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve. Based on this nomination, the University was selected to receive the Missouri Outstanding Military Support Award.

"Grantham University was founded 62 years ago by a veteran in order to provide educational options to our country's service members and veterans," says Grantham University President Joseph McGrath. "We are humbled to receive this recognition for our support of our military employees and students. Serving those who serve is at the heart of all we do."

At Grantham, military students and veterans receive one-on-one support from advisors as well as guidance from the school's Veterans Services department. Faculty are trained in military culture, adult learning strategies, and online best practices in order to provide students with a supportive learning environment.

For employees in the Guard and Reserve, Grantham offers pay differential during periods of deployment and training, and offers the flexibility of staff coverage while the service member is away.
