NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / July 19, 2020 / Each mentor who helps a protege hone their craft is expected to have proficient knowledge in their field. Luckily for some proteges, some mentors are well versed in more than one, and go beyond their day job to make a difference.
Gary Upton is a multi-talented individual who not only thrives in the music industry but in other sectors as well. Having been born in Sutton-in-Ashfield, England, Gary and his mother moved to America in his teenage years. He grew up spending his early years working in a music shop and playing the double bass. He would later study music at Western Connecticut State University and open his one-man string shop to refurbish and sell bass guitars.
Upton Bass String Instrument Company has since become a world-renowned brand that thrives under Gary's direction. It has attracted a list of elite clients and is well regarded by Grammy-award-winning musicians. Upton Bass is the only manufacturer of double-basses in the United States. It has a past retail shop in Boston from a workshop in Mystic, Cincinnati.
While Gary works in the music field, he also envisions a better world based on the available resources. He also specializes in other areas such as health and fitness, real estate, manufacturing, politics, jury consulting, conservation, and public speaking. Gary tends to look at the local communities and tries to see what resources they have and what they need.
He can be found in numerous sectors working with the economic landscape that is constantly changing. Gary has worked as a program director for a Boston fitness center and developed a fitness brand called UP Fitness, an upscale gym that offers sophisticated workout options to the community of Mystic, Cincinnati. Their gym upholds its brand motto, "Exhilarating, Not Intimidating."
Another contribution to the communities that Gary has given is his title of chairman for East Line Inland Wetlands, an environmental agency that seeks to protect local resources from potentially hazardous development. He has also invested in real estate to learn the ropes hands-on, resulting in coordinated multimillion-dollar projects. As a consultant, Gary has worked with law firms and accounts as well as some notable clients both in and out of the courtroom.
Gary has given several lectures on entrepreneurial vision and innovation at colleges, hoping to mentor the younger generation to navigate their way through the local political landscape. All the while working on a book that talks about the intersection of innovation and business. He uses a story about his invention, a double bass that can be disassembled to fit inside a suitcase, to illustrate his point.
