Jenner & Block partner Mélida Hodgson
International arbitration lawyer Mélida Hodgson has left Foley Hoag to join Jenner & Block as a partner in the firm's New York office.
“Mélida’s practice adds another important layer to our strong international arbitration capabilities,” Terrence Truax, Jenner & Block’s managing partner, said in a statement. “Her experience in international disputes, treaty interpretation and global investment protection contributes to our public international law practice chaired by Patrick Pearsall, former chief of investment arbitration with the U.S. Department of State. We are excited to have Mélida aboard.”
Hodgson has arbitrated disputes under American Arbitration Association and International Centre for Dispute Resolution rules, and under Chapter 19 of the North American Free Trade Agreement. She has also been appointed to a number of arbitral rosters, including those for the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration and the British Virgin Islands International Arbitration Centre, as well as the list of panelists eligible to hear WTO disputes.
Hodgson also played a key role in successfully advising Venezuela against several International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes arbitrations. She has also represented the Republic of Panama and Peru in ICSID and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law matters.
Foley Hoag did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
