Few catalysts ahead of busy week

There are few economic releases scheduled for today, but next week's calendar is very active.

Today's only items are various sentiment surveys in Europe early in the session that will probably have little impact on U.S. trading. Noteworthy companies reporting earnings include PulteGroup, Azz, Finish Line, and Commercial Metals.

The ball gets rolling early Monday with Chinese manufacturing indexes and Japanese construction numbers. Europe follows with inflation data, which could affect expectations for the European Central Bank's monetary announcement on Thursday.

Tuesday brings European manufacturing and employment numbers. The Institute for Supply Management also releases its key manufacturing gauge for the United States. Paychex reports earnings after the close.

Jobs numbers start flowing Wednesday with ADP's private-sector payrolls report. Europe also reports economic growth and MBA announces weekly mortgage applications. Constellation Brands is on the earnings docket.

Thursday's docket includes the ECB's rate decision, non-farm payrolls, and weekly unemployment claims.

U.S. markets are closed Friday in observance of Independence Day.
