American fast-casual restaurant chain Sweetgreen has opened its first restaurant in Richmond's Carytown in the US state of Virginia.

The 2,162ft² location is the brand's 250th restaurant and signifies its ongoing national expansion.

Sweetgreen co-founder and CEO Jonathan Neman stated: “Sweetgreen was founded just a couple of hours from Richmond with the goal of bringing communities together through fresh, high-quality food. We’re honoured to carry that mission forward in Carytown, partnering with local businesses and serving delicious meals made with real ingredients.

“Opening our 250th location here makes this moment even more special, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with the Richmond community.”

Since its inception in 2007, Sweetgreen has been dedicated to collaborating with local farmers and growers.

The Carytown location will continue this tradition by featuring goats' cheese from FireFly Farms, a long-standing partner of the brand.

FireFly Farms co-founder Mike Koch added: “We have been a partner of Sweetgreen for 16 years and are thrilled to bring our farm-fresh goats' cheese to the Richmond area.

“At FireFly Farms, we prioritise producing high-quality, delicious cheese from fresh milk, and we can’t wait for the Richmond community to enjoy the perfect pairing of our goats' cheese with Sweetgreen’s signature flavours.”

The menu will consist of a harvest bowl and a crispy rice bowl, along with protein-rich options such as miso-glazed salmon and steakhouse.

The Richmond location will also feature the newly launched Ripple Fries - air-fried, crinkle-cut russet potatoes for dipping into Sweetgreen's signature dressings or the newly introduced Garlic Aioli and Pickle Ketchup.
