International oil and gas company Falcon Oil & Gas has completed the Shenandoah SS-2H ST1 well stimulation in the Beetaloo Sub-basin, Northern Territory, Australia.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with Falcon Oil & Gas Australia’s joint venture partner Tamboran (B2).

The stimulation of the well involved completion of 35 stages across the 1,671m horizontal section of the Amungee Member B-shale.

Utilising Liberty Energy's modern stimulation equipment, the team achieved five stages of stimulation over a 24-hour period on multiple days.

The wellhead injection rates surpassed 100 barrels (bbl) per minute, with an average proppant intensity of 2,706 pounds per foot (lb/ft). The average stage spacing maintained was approximately 48m.

Following these achievements, the SS-2H ST1 well is set to be completed ahead of the clean out activities, initiating the initial flow back and extended production testing.

Falcon CEO Philip O’Quigley commented: We are extremely encouraged about the potential of the current stimulation programme based on strong gas shows and other data observed whilst drilling.

“In addition, the experienced US operator, Liberty Energy, have shown the efficiencies they can achieve, which will provide us with the greatest opportunity for the best possible outcomes from this stimulation programme. We look forward to updating the market on the IP30 flow test results as soon as they become available.”

In November 2024, Falcon Oil & Gas, in partnership with Tamboran B2, announced the spudding of the Shenandoah S2-4H (SS4H) well in the Beetaloo Sub-basin, Northern Territory, Australia.

This is the second well in the Shenandoah South Pilot project, targeting the Amungee Member B-shale.

The SS4H well was drilled from the same pad as the Shenandoah S2-2H ST1 sidetrack well, using the H&P super-spec FlexRig Flex 3 Rig to a measured depth of 6,452m.

"Falcon completes Shenandoah SS-2H ST1 well stimulation" was originally created and published by Offshore Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
