Accor’s luxury brand Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, in collaboration with Xiamen Airlines, has announced the opening of a new property in Fujian province, China.

The Fairmont Xiamen hotel is situated as part of the Xiamen Airlines headquarters complex at the Xiamen Cross-Strait Financial Centre.

It features a 33-storey structure, offers 420 guest rooms and suites, private check-in and lounge access, over 3,100m² of indoor and outdoor spaces for a variety of occasions, and five dining venues.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts chief executive officer Omer Acar said: “China is an all-important market for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, and with the opening of Fairmont Xiamen, we are delighted to add this auspicious hotel to the brand’s global portfolio.”

Fairmont Xiamen's design was led by Foster + Partners, an architectural company led by Pritzker Prize laureate Norman Foster.

The interior design responsibilities were handled by Hong Kong-based Cheng & Chung Design (CCD)

The hotel has also incorporated sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing waste and promoting health-conscious choices, as well as partnered with BeWTR for zero-plastic, recyclable glass water bottles.

Accor Greater China chief executive officer Gary Rosen said: “With its stunning architecture, world-class hospitality, and commitment to sustainability, the hotel fully embodies the spirit of the Fairmont brand. The unrivalled presence of Fairmont Xiamen will connect people, culture, and ideas, and we are confident it will soon become the social epicentre of the Xiamen community.”

With more than 30 hotels in development, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is expanding its global presence, with new openings scheduled in locations such as Bangkok, Dalian, Hanoi, New Orleans, Tokyo, and Udaipur.

Last month, the brand revealed plans to open five new hotels in India, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand.
