Turkish and Kurdish restaurant to open in Newburgh
Edessa restaurant from Nashville will soon be opening a Turkish and Kurdish restaurant in the former Edgewater Grille and The Landing building in Newburgh. The name has yet to be announced. Turkish cuisine is Mediterranean with some familiar dishes such as hummus, baba ghanoush and kofta, but there are many unique entrees and appetizers as well, such as pide, a baked dough "boat" filled with savory ingredients, and tas kebab, a rich lamb and vegetable stew cooked under a bubbly bread covering.
The as yet unnamed restaurant will be at 1 East Water St., Newburgh, Ind.
Angel's Envy Bourbon pairing dinner
The Farmer & Frenchman winery and restaurant will host a four-course Angel’s Envy Bourbon pairing dinner on Thursday, Jan. 18, from 7- 8:30 p.m. On the menu will be she crab soup with a blue crab cake and pickled corn relish, blackened flounder over red rice and Andouille sausage with lemon caper butter, smothered chicken quarters in creamy mushroom sauce with braised greens and black eyed peas, and key lime pie with red wine raspberry sauce and mascarpone whipped cream, each paired with an Angel's Envy whiskey or cocktail. Tickets are $85 for food only and $95 for food with whiskey pairings.

Coffee shop open house with roasting education
Evansville Coffee Co. and Honey Moon Coffee Co. will host an open house at their new coffee shop and roastery on Friday, Jan. 12, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Roasting and barista champion Mark Michaelson from the San Franciscan Roasting Company will be on hand offering demonstrations on coffee roasting at 6:30 p.m., the basics of home espresso machine use and pour overs, and discussing an overview of green coffee beans. Honey+Moon will launch a Bourbon bacon bubble waffle at the event and the Bodine's Newsstand truck will be on hand with fresh fish and chips.

New Haitian restaurant in food hall
Mikey's Caribbean Restaurant is now open in the Main St. Food & Beverage Food Hall. Enjoy Haitian classics such as fried whole red snapper, fried plantain rounds with hot cabbage and habanero relish, and others.

Pub under new ownership
Pips Pub in Northern Vanderburgh County is under new ownership of Shawn and Nicole Swank. Shawn was formerly the general manager at The Landing in Newburgh. The menu will be staying the same for the time being with wings, loaded fries, nachos, strombolis and other substantial sandwiches, burgers and much more, but new dishes will be added in the upcoming months.
