HOLLAND — A local business owner, her daughter and her future daughter-in-law have joined forces to open a brick-and-mortar storefront in downtown Holland.

Tricia Alcamo has a long history in Ottawa County as the owner of Peppino's Pizza.

"We've been in Ottawa County with that business since 1976," she told The Sentinel. "I was a business owner already and we've always loved shopping in local boutiques."

Alcamo was inspired by her daughter, Annalisa Walt, and her first pregnancy.

"She had a baby (Estella Rose) in February 2021," Alcamo said. "We were talking with our now-manager (Kailie Werra), and she had a background in retail. We decided to give it a shot."

Estella Rose was located in Cascade, for a time, in a building owned by Walt's father-in-law. But the business closed the location in July.

"It was an opportunity to get started," Alcamo said. "But we've always wanted to be in Saugatuck or Holland or Grand Haven, the beach-y towns. And, by some miracle, we saw the old Crust 54 building was empty and got very lucky. We're very excited."

Crust 54 began planning its move from 54 E. Eighth St. in May 2019, when owner Matt Klaus purchased the building at 45 E. Eighth St. from Lumir LLC. The restaurant officially reopened in its new location in June 2020, leaving the former space vacant.

"We're very excited," Alcamo said. "Holland is a better fit, for sure. The way it sounds, it's going to be a complete gut. The building won't be recognizable from the inside or outside."

Construction is slated to begin this fall, and Estella Rose's lease begins in April.

"Hopefully, depending on construction, that's our timeline," Alcamo said. "I know Holland is full of beautiful boutiques and clothing, and we just want to join them down there."

Alcamo plans to expand the store's maternity lines, while continuing to offer infant, children and women's clothing.

"It's a little bit of everything," she said. "We're looking forward to it. It was worth the wait."
