Enjoy Food from Some of the Nation’s Best Chefs, and Help Fight Childhood Cancer

Chef Suzanne Goin, her business partner Caroline Styne (of Lucques, A.O.C., and Tavern), and chef David Lentz (the Hungry Cat) return to host the seventh annual L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade, an epicurean cookout to be held September 10 from 12 pm to 4 pm at UCLA’s Royce Quad. The event is dedicated to cancer victim Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996–2004), who started her own charity—the eponymous Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation—for raising money to increase awareness of childhood cancer, treatments, and cures.

The day will be packed with delicious food, wine and cocktails, an abundance of children’s activities, and live and silent auctions offering exclusive experiences and packages. An outstanding group of newly participating chefs will team up with returning chefs Adam Perry Lang, Giada De Laurentiis, Michael Voltaggio, April Bloomfield, Nancy Silverton, and others, to prepare delicacies for the culinary event. As in recent years, longtime celebrity supporters of the charity like Jimmy Kimmel, Lena Dunham, Laura Dern, Joe Mantegna, and Kirsten Vangsness will likely be in attendance. General admission starts at $195. Premier tickets go for $1,200 and include a behind-the-scenes tour of the venue, an opportunity to meet the chefs, and exclusive access to the private Chef’s Dinner on September 9. All proceeds will benefit Alex’s foundation. (alexslemonade.org)
