Employee accused of stealing equipment from Harbor Freight

Dec. 30—A Maggie Valley man is in hot water after being accused of stealing from his employer Harbor Freight.

William Aaron Ferguson, 44, was arrested this week for felony larceny by an employee. His rap sheet includes a past conviction of theft from his work place, as well.

Ferguson is accused of stealing a Generac Home Generator from Harbor Freight, a tool store in Waynesville located in the former Kmart plaza, according to court documents. The theft of the generator occurred on Nov. 28.

Waynesville Police Chief David Adams said that Ferguson admitted to stealing more, but detectives are still working with the company to review camera footage and receipts to determine what else was taken, which could lead to more charges.

Ferguson was also found to be in possession of Lorazepam, a schedule IV controlled substance.

This is not Ferguson's first run in with the law. Ferguson has been convicted on 16 charges in 13 incidents over the course of the last 25 years, in addition to numerous charges that were dismissed. The convictions include two DWIs, three crimes related to the possession of drugs, two cases of driving with a revoked license, two misdemeanor larcenies and two felony larcenies.

One of the misdemeanor larcenies was part of a plea deal after originally being charged with felony larceny by employee.

Ferguson has made bail on the latest charges, with one condition of release being that he is not allowed on Harbor Freight property.
