Oct. 24—GOSHEN — The Elkhart County Commissioners approved several items in their meeting Monday morning.
The Highway Department's purchase of a 2023 Chevrolet 3/4 ton truck was approved from Burnworth-Zollars, Ligonier, at a cost of $57,647. It will replace a similar 2006 model.
The Highway Department also received approval to apply for the Indiana Department of Transportation's Rural Call for Projects. The federal dollars, if awarded, will go toward Bridge 335, which is on C.R. 31 near the Benton dam/spillway, north of C.R. 46. The bridge is nearly 50 years old.
Martell Electric, South Bend, was awarded a contract for construction cable for the new courthouse project.
Approval was also given to a proposal from Conserv to integrate the Juvenile Detention Center to the Jail Conserv building automation system. Commissioner Bob Barnes explained that no extra money will need to be appropriated due to savings from the jail portion of the project.
