EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce issued a statement on Thursday, April 2, addressing what they are calling a “recent legal matter involving the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).”

The Chamber said that over the past two years, the DOJ investigated allegations related to a grant application submitted in 2018-2019.

“After careful consideration and approval by our Board of Directors, we have reached a small settlement with the DOJ to resolve this matter. This decision was made to avoid the expense and distraction of potential litigation and to allow us to focus on our mission of serving our community. Importantly, the settlement includes the DOJ’s acknowledgement of our denial of any wrongdoing,” read the statement.

This resolution will not impact the quality or delivery of their services, the Chamber said.

The Chamber added that they “fully cooperated with the investigation and provided extensive documentation to support their practices.”
