After eight years, this Wendy's in Monmouth County might finally get built

HOWELL — Over eight years in the making, a developer wants to move forward with plans for a new Wendy's restaurant on Route 9.

The Planning Board will consider an application on Sept. 21 by Wen Claire Real Estate LLC to build a Wendy's fast-food restaurant with a drive-thru lane. Since 2015, the developer has received two approvals from the board, but it was never built.

Here are the details:

Where's it located?

The site for the new Wendy's is a mostly wooded area on the northbound side of Route 9, north of Interstate 195 and near the intersection of West Farms Road. A Delta service station is next door.

What's the plan?

The proposal calls for the construction of a 2,380-square-foot Wendy's restaurant with a drive-thru. It will contain 30 seats and have 42 parking spaces with enough space for a line of nine cars at the drive-thru.

Besides a right-in and right-out driveway on Route 9, there will also be a driveway along West Farms Road, according to the plans

Wen Claire Real Estate was previously granted approval for a Wendy's in 2015 and 2017, but the size of the restaurants were larger. The first was proposed at 3,429 square feet, the second at 2,565 square feet.
