Edan Introduces Acclarix Compact Ultrasound System at ANESTHESIOLOGY(TM) 2014

NEW ORLEANS, LA--(Marketwired - October 10, 2014) - Edan Medical, the Silicon Valley ultrasound design center of global medical device manufacturer Edan Instruments, today announced the introduction of the Acclarix™ AX8 Compact Ultrasound System for use in point-of-care applications at the prestigious ANESTHESIOLOGY™ 2014 annual meeting, October 11-15, 2014 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The Acclarix AX8 is the first in a family of ultrasound products to be introduced by the Company that leverages cooperative contributions between two cradles of high-technology innovation, Silicon Valley, located in northern California in the United States, and Shenzhen, China. The Acclarix AX8 is designed to deliver definitive image quality in a distinctive design, while also focusing on the unique workflow needs of the point-of-care market. Acclarix technology significantly expands Edan's ultrasound product portfolio, which formerly consisted mainly of entry-level systems for emerging markets.

"The Acclarix AX8 system will allow Edan to effectively compete in the point-of-care market segments by providing premium-level ultrasound performance in a progressive, compact design," said Sean Murphy, PhD, chief executive officer of Edan Medical. "Acclarix has been designed from the ground up with a relentless focus on delivering meaningful design innovations that benefit the user. The result is an elegant simplicity where form meets function embodied in an ultrasound system that will benefit thousands of patients."

The exceptional image quality of the Acclarix AX8 is a result of the system's tremendous computing power and high fidelity, high channel-count architecture, which delivers the image quality and color Doppler sensitivity of a larger console system in a sleek laptop configuration. Standard features such as tissue-adaptive imaging continuously and automatically optimizes the image to facilitate identification of tissue boundaries. A host of design features streamline daily operation in point-of-care environments, and include a tilt-and-swivel monitor, extended battery life, a completely sealed control panel, needle visualization technology and application-specific exam and imaging presets. A new generation of six fully optimized transducers covers the range of point-of-care applications including anesthesia, musculoskeletal, rheumatology, interventional radiology, emergency medicine, critical care and surgery.

Demonstrations of the Acclarix AX8 are scheduled throughout the meeting in Edan's booth, #235. Separate from the ANESTHESIOLOGY 2014 annual meeting, the Acclarix System is one of the new technology highlights in the Product and Technology EXPERIENCE showcase where physicians may also see demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday, October 11-12 from 11:30 a.m-2:30 p.m., also in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
