Oct. 24—There's a new leader of an influential business group.
The Economic Forum of Albuquerque announced Thursday that Emily Howard, the founder of Cheetah Strategies, will be the group's next executive director. A pro in marketing, tourism and strategic planning sectors, Howard said she is ready to start her "next chapter."
"Having engaged with the Forum as both a member and consultant, I've seen firsthand the impact this organization has on our community," she said in a statement. "My vision is to build on that success by ensuring our members enjoy fresh and relevant programming and fruitful networking opportunities."
Cheetah Strategies is a strategic planning and brand consulting firm that Howard created in 2021. During her career, she has worked with the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, Visit Albuquerque, Esparza Advertising and McKee Wallwork.
She cofounded Start Bragging, a volunteer movement that aims to shine positive light on Albuquerque.
She will begin her work with the Forum on Jan. 1. Economic Forum is a member-based, non-partisan organization that aims to build a strong network of business, government, education and other leaders.
The group holds events and hosts speakers on various topics that affect Albuquerque.
Howard will succeed Kathie Winograd, who has led the Economic Forum for three years.
"Emily's dedication to Albuquerque, her strategic expertise and her ability to connect people and ideas make her the ideal candidate to lead the Economic Forum," said Michael Stevens, Economic Forum's board chair. "We are confident that she will build on the Forum's strong foundation and elevate its impact on our community."
