Jul. 18—EAU CLAIRE — The superlatives for Eau Claire continue to mount, with Site Selection magazine ranking the community the 27th best place nationally to start a small business.

The magazine said many startups are turning their backs on major cities, setting up instead in smaller cities nationwide. While the pandemic accelerated the trend, the magazine said the trend of shifting away from major urban centers began a couple years earlier.
