Earnings lead quiet data calendar

This week's economic calendar is very quiet, with no significant events until Alcoa's earnings announcement tomorrow afternoon.

Things get slightly busier on Wednesday, when the Federal Reserve publishes minutes from its last meeting. Weekly mortgage applications and crude-oil inventories will also be announced, along with quarterly results from Progressive, Constellation Brands, and Bed Bath & Beyond.

Thursday features monthly same-store sales, initial jobless claims, and import/export prices. Family Dollar, Rite Aid, and NQ Mobile report earnings as well.

Attention turns to the big banks on Friday as JP Morgan and Wells Fargo release their quarterly numbers. In addition, producer prices and consumer sentiment will be announced.
