US discount retailer Dollar Tree has revealed plans to make its comeback to Marietta, Oklahoma, with a new distribution centre.

The one million-square-foot facility comes after the company's previous facility was destroyed by a tornado in April 2024.

Slated to be operational by early 2027, the site will support up to 700 Dollar Tree locations throughout the West and Southwest of the US.

The hub will be equipped with advanced technology and feature temperature control and a high degree of automation, including advanced high-speed sorting systems to enhance operational efficiency.

Dollar Tree executive vice-president and chief supply chain officer Mike Kindy said: "We are thrilled to announce our return to Marietta. This region and the Marietta community are critically important in our supply chain network and will be essential to our future growth. We’re proud of the role we’ve played in the greater Marietta community, and we hope to welcome back many associates, bringing the Dollar Tree spirit back to the area."

Oklahoma governor Kevin Stitt highlighted the economic impact of the new facility, which is expected to create 400 jobs in the area.

Stitt said: "The reinvestment in the community is a testament to the importance of building strong local relationships and furthers our reputation as a business-friendly state."

Last month, Dollar Tree reached an agreement to divest its Family Dollar division to Brigade Capital Management and Macellum Capital Management for $1bn.

As of 1 February 2025, Dollar Tree operated 16,500 stores under various brands, namely Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and Dollar Tree Canada, across 48 US states and five provinces in Canada.

In fiscal 2024, Dollar Tree revenue climbed to $17.6bn, marking a 4.7% rise. Comparable store sales for the retailer saw a 1.8% uptick, attributed to a 1.6% growth in customer count and a marginal 0.1% rise in the average purchase value.

The company's gross profit experienced a 4.5% boost, reaching $6.3bn, while the gross margin remained unchanged at 35.8%.
