TOKYO, Aug 23 (Reuters) - The dollar edged down to its session low against the yen on Wednesday, following U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks about a government shutdown.
At a rally with his supporters in Phoenix, Trump referred to his vow to build a wall at the U.S.-Mexican border and said, "If we have to close down the government, we are building that wall."
The dollar was down 0.1 percent at 109.475 yen after touching a low of 109.410, down from around 109.670 before Trump's statement and from an earlier session high of 109.830 yen at 0005 GMT. (Reporting by Tokyo markets team; Editing by Simon Cameron-Moore)
