Dillard resigns as CU's director of sports performance

Jul. 22—Austin Dillard has resigned as Cumberland's director of sports performance to become the head strength coach at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla.

Dillard led the strength and conditioning staff that prepared strength plans for all Cumberland athletics teams. Dillard also taught the student-athletes about nutrition to help best prepare them for peak performance. He oversaw a remodel of the strength and conditioning facility including new racks, weight sets, painting and flooring in the weight room in his second year.

He trained the teams that won eight conference titles and nine individual national championships in the past two years. His work in the weight room helped guide the Phoenix to 11 NAIA National Tournament appearances in 2022-23 and seven more in 2021-22.

"I want to thank Austin for the past two years as our head strength coach," Cumberland athletic director Ron Pavan said. "She has done a wonderful job managing over 600 student-athletes and 30 teams."
