How Does Gordon Marr’s Compensation Compare With Similar Sized Companies?

At the time of writing our data says that Hansard Global Plc has a market cap of UK£64m, and is paying total annual CEO compensation of UK£408k. (This is based on the year to 2018). While we always look at total compensation first, we note that the salary component is less, at UK£325k. We took a group of companies with market capitalizations below UK£156m, and calculated the median CEO compensation to be UK£246k.

It would therefore appear that Hansard Global Plc pays Gordon Marr more than the median CEO remuneration at companies of a similar size, in the same market. However, this fact alone doesn’t mean the remuneration is too high. A closer look at the performance of the underlying business will give us a better idea about whether the pay is particularly generous.

Is Hansard Global Plc Growing?

Hansard Global Plc has reduced its earnings per share by an average of 29% a year, over the last three years (measured with a line of best fit). Its revenue is down -61% over last year.

Unfortunately, earnings per share have trended lower over the last three years. And the fact that revenue is down year on year arguably paints an ugly picture. It’s hard to argue the company is firing on all cylinders, so shareholders might be averse to high CEO remuneration. Has Hansard Global Plc Been A Good Investment?

Given the total loss of 45% over three years, many shareholders in Hansard Global Plc are probably rather dissatisfied, to say the least. So shareholders would probably think the company shouldn’t be too generous with CEO compensation.

In Summary…
