Customers booking flights for Oct. 1 and later will get to select one of the new cabin names for Delta Air Lines.

It was announced on May 15 that "Delta Main" will replace Main Cabin, Delta Comfort-plus has been renamed "Delta Comfort," and First Class is now being referred to as "Delta First."

As of right now, Delta Premium Select and Delta One remain unchanged.

In addition to renaming its products, Delta Air Lines will offer three "experience" options for those in the main cabin.

"Main Basic will replace Basic Economy but offers the same "essentials" in the basic economy fare," the report from Business Travel News states. "Main Classic bookings earn five miles per dollar spent, a Delta eCredit if canceled, better boarding priority, same-day standby and the ability to choose a seat. Main Extra bookings receive even higher boarding priority, seven miles per dollar spent and refundability to the original form of payment along with all Main Classic benefits."

This is the second major change that has been announced by Delta Air Lines this month.

Ben Schlappig of One Mile at a Time previously reported that Delta will no longer allow pre-boarding for its Delta 360 members. Starting on May 16, Delta 360 members will have to board in Zone 2.

"The airline hasn’t given any reason for this policy change, other than to say that pre-boarding is being reserved for those who need extra time, and active duty military," Schalppig said.

Delta Air Lines has already commented on its new boarding process for Delta 360 members as well as its renamed cabins.

"Our reimagined shopping experience gives customers more options and flexibility to pick the travel experience that works best for them, and a full picture of all the benefits of flying with Delta," said Eric Phillips, the Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer for Delta Air Lines.
