CTXS Enhances Mobile Apps Platform
Citrix Systems Inc. (CTXS) has enhanced its mobile computing platform by offering Citrix Worx App Gallery that includes more than 100 apps from third-party developers. At present, it is one of the fastest growing corporate mobile apps platforms with a growth rate of 25% since its inception in May 2013.
The Worx App Gallery reduces the need for IT administrators as it is managed by Citrix XenMobile that offers complete security and better corporate usage. The XenMobile prevents a user from accessing official information from an unsecured Wi-Fi network located outside the office premises.
The IT team installs the important apps into the corporate app store so that the corporate users can easily download it.
Softening of IT spending by several firms coupled with higher usage of smartphones and tablets by corporate people have induced Citrix to shift its focus toward mobile computing. Last year, the company launched GoToAssist application for iPhones and Android-based handsets.
The GoToAssist application will enable smartphone users to host virtual meeting as well as send and receive official files. Moreover, the availability of Citrix’s popular GoToMeeting video conferencing application in the iPad tablets will further boost the company’s cloud computing solutions.
The company also launched another mobile application service called CloudGateway2 that provides Windows, web, software delivery, mobile applications and data to any device, anywhere. CloudGateway2 also facilitates data access policies and determines the best possible applications that can be utilized by users in varied locations.
Thus, we believe that the launch of such applications for smartphone users coupled with huge growth opportunity in virtualization and cloud computing market will act as a positive catalyst for the company going forward.
