While the most recent ADP private jobs report shows employers are hiring more people, CNBC's Jim Cramer still believes the U.S. economy is mixed.
"We have a housing shortage in the country now," Cramer said on " Squawk on the Street ." "If you look at the rail car loadings, there are a lot of businesses that are not doing very well."
"I think there is strength in hiring, but not strength in the [overall] economy. I think that's very counterintuitive," he said.
Cramer made his remarks after an ADP report said private companies added 237,000 jobs in June, above a consensus estimate of 218,000.

On Thursday, investors will be eyeing more data as the Labor Department releases its monthly nonfarm payrolls data.
"There is a lot of chatter now that, at the end of July, the Fed could make a move," Cramer also said. "I think that's ridiculous. I think it's going to be September, but [July] is what we're hearing if tomorrow's number is really strong."
