PLOVER – Wendy’s is returning to central Wisconsin.
Construction on a new Wendy's has started at 1215 Commons Circle in Plover. A spokesperson for the company said Wendy’s aims to open the new location in early fall.
Plans for the new building have been in the works since January, when Plover’s Plan Commission approved a 2,000-square-foot drive-thru to be built next to the Jiffy Lube building in Crossroads Commons.
The new Wendy’s marks a return of the brand in central Wisconsin. Wendy’s opened on U.S. 10 in Stevens Point in 1993, but that location closed and was remodeled to become a Qdoba in 2017. A Weston Wendy’s closed last September and is set to become a Fuzzy’s Taco Shop later this summer, and the restaurant closed in Marshfield in 2012 and in Wisconsin Rapids in 2007.
