Cognizant has teamed up with Elektrobit, an automotive software company, to drive the development of software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

The collaboration will result in the integration of Elektrobit’s Software Development Kit (SDK) for EB corbos AdaptiveCore into Cognizant’s SDV solution accelerator.

The collaboration is designed to enhance Cognizant's SDV solution, which now incorporates Elektrobit's Adaptive AUTOSAR solution.

The aim is to assist original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers in developing “scalable, flexible, and cost-efficient SDV architectures,” according to a statement issued by Cognizant.

Cognizant's SDV solution accelerator leverages Gen AI-driven productivity tools to help automotive companies speed up product development and testing, enhance quality, and reduce costs, all while navigating limited resources.

The solution integrates signal-based and service-oriented applications into modern electrical/electronic (EE) architecture, which includes vehicle computers and zonal controllers.

This collaboration also seeks to streamline the development process through continuous testing and validation, the statement added.

By addressing safety and security at the outset, it aims to shorten the time required to introduce new features and manage the complexity of various software platforms.

Cognizant Auto, Transportation and Logistics vice president and Americas head Aditya Pathak said: “We intend to streamline the development process, enhance vehicle functionality, identify defects early and integrate Gen AI in the software lifecycle to meet the growing demand for customization and hyper-personalisation.

“This collaboration aims to redefine automotive software development, helping our clients deliver reliable and personalized driving experiences.”

In 2023, Elektrobit introduced a new software tool known as the ‘Theming Engine’, which allows for the customisation of a vehicle’s user interface throughout its lifetime without the need for a software engineer.

Elektrobit's Theming Engine enables automotive OEMs, fleet managers, rental car operators, and shared mobility service providers to personalize a vehicle's appearance dynamically.
