Despite coming under fire from members of younger generations who opt for exciting and cosmopolitan urban lives, the suburbs have historically offered a quieter and simpler existence still relatively close to jobs and cultural centers. However, all suburbs are not created equal.
Niche has released its ranking of the best suburbs to live in America. GOBankingRates combed through the data and observed that the majority of the top 50 suburbs are suburbs of the cities on Amazon’s shortlist for HQ2. Since the Amazon search was announced in 2017, the online retail giant has stayed relatively silent as rumors circulate about which city will ultimately get thousands of new residents, as many as 50,000 high-paying jobs, and an investment of about $5 billion.

Whether Niche’s list is a product of Amazon’s potential expansion or vice versa, if you’re looking to move near one of these top locations, it’s best to do it before property values soar in the event that the area wins Amazon’s golden ticket. Niche gathered its top suburbs list based on government data and factored in crime rates, quality of public schools, cost of living, employment opportunities, access to local amenities and other determinants. The list, which includes some towns and cities, also factored in real reviews from current and former residents.
