Christie’s to Auction the Private Collection of the Late Joan Rivers

Revered for her biting comedic commentary and her impeccable sense of fashion, Joan Rivers made an indelible impact on the cultural landscape. This June, fans of the comedic genius (who passed away in 2014 at age 81) will have the chance to purchase some of her personal effects. From June 16 to 23, Christie’s will auction an array of treasured belongings from Joan Rivers’ Manhattan penthouse. The Private Collection of Joan Rivers to be auctioned includes a diamond-and-gold Cartier wristwatch ($7,000 to $10,000), an Édouard Vuillard painting from 1915 ($120,000 to $180,000), and a silver-gilt mounted Nephrite photo frame ($25,000 to $35,000). The two-pronged sale will include an online auction and a live auction on June 22. The online sale will feature about 80 lots, while the live auction—which will take place at Christie’s New York—is set to showcase more than 200 lots. (christies.com)
