BEIJING, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Mainland China reported 87 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Feb. 17, the country's national health authority said on Friday, compared with 92 a day earlier.

Of the new cases, 40 were locally transmitted, the National Health Commission said, compared with 35 a day earlier.

The local infections included 22 new cases in the northern Chinese region of Inner Mongolia.

The number of new asymptomatic cases, which China does not classify as confirmed cases, stood at 45 compared with 32 a day earlier.

There were no new deaths, leaving the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
