BEIJING, June 13 (Reuters) - China commended Panama for its decision to establish formal relations with Beijing, Chinese state television said on Tuesday.

Panama's government said earlier that it pledged to end all relations or official contact with Taiwan, making it the latest country to break with the self-ruled island that Beijing says is a breakaway province. (Reporting by Michael Martina; Editing by Michael Perry)
