China April exports fall 1.8 pct, missing forecasts -customs

BEIJING, May 8 (Reuters) - China's April exports disappointed analyst expectations, falling 1.8 percent from a year earlier, while imports fell by 10.9 percent, customs data showed on Sunday.

That left the country with a trade surplus of $45.56 billion for the month, the General Administration of Customs said.

Analysts polled by Reuters had expected exports to fall by 0.1 percent, and predicted imports would fall by 5.0 percent.
